T350 Clonks

Hi, The car has just been back to the dealer to have a diff leak sorted and I asked them to see if something was loose underneath because over midly bumpy roads I get clonks from under the car. They do seem to get better after driving for a while, but the guy at Henley said it was probably a damper but they didn't want to order one in unless it could be confirmed. Anybody else get similar noises from underneath? I do have the full wear and tear warranty (AutoProtect) but it does have a pay the first £250.00 per claim and the standard Billsteins are less than that for a pair but a month or so ago the rear drivers side spring was bowing and fowling on the chassis and so was rotated by Henley who said it was a common problem. Comments please.

It was probably a damper? It either was or it wasnt. Personally if the car was having the work done what was the problem with a correct diagnosis of the clunk whilst it was in?

My thought exactly - but it seems that once sold it is difficult to get decent support without a struggle, I waited 2 months for the diff oil seal which was out of stock at the time and I chased them in the end and was told they forgot but they now had it in stock and that the work would be done free of charge.

That is pathetic service take it back and demand it sorted - sale of goods act

Had a sound like this on mine, only over sharpest ridges/bumps.

After many months I found it was the small fibreglass box under the carpet in the rear hatch (offside) rattling up & down against the inner surface of the bodywork. Just needed some felt on lower corners & was fine

Hmm... mine was just handed to me so don't know. The compartment on the right looking in through the hatch. It's a box that drops in place, mine had tell-tale fibreglass powder on 2 corners underneath where it had been rattling about

Hi, Thanks for the comments. I went out yesterday and clonks were almost gone until I picked my son up. It does seem to be when weight is in the passenger side. No signs of leaks from the shock though.

I had a snapped anti-roll bar link gave me clunk rear off side, sometimes the backbox hangers stretch and can catch on the body work
