Anyone help me with a little query.
I've just passed my test and insured the Bandit today, but won't recieve the Docs through until later this week.
Now with the insurance database, PNC etc. if I tax my bike online tomorrow can I legally ride it without having the Tax disc in my grubby little mitts as it'll take around 5 days to get to me.

It should come up as taxed and tested MOT'd on the database should any BiB take an interest. Or is failure to display still a big NO NO?

Thanks in advance

I laminate my tax disc and keep it in my jacket pocket. So far, I've got 5 years worth in the pocket.

unless you park it somewhere a bored plod checks for discs i cant see a problem. plus i suspect the worst you'd get if they did happen is a producer.

could actually be done for failure to display a valid tax disc, unnlikely to get caught though unless you do something silly as anpr will show you as taked. different offence from not having a tax disc

I've gone 3 years without displaying a tax disc and not had a problem.
After having 2 real tax discs stolen and then another 3 colour photo copies, I decided I couldn't be bothered showing it.
I keep the real one safe & warm at home.

If you only insured it today, you won't be abl to taxit online tomorrrow, very unlikely VDLA would have uploaded ins details to database yet.

I was till trying to get my tax disc online this week 5 working days after ins renewal, DVLA kept saying no record of ins, yet old insurance technically had not run out, gave up and taxed it at a PO yesterday.
Querried with ins co. and they said can easily take a week for uploading.

The bloke at Bennetts told me it was updated straight away frown now that's really put a downer on my plans.

Suppose I can try to tax it online tomorrow. if not I'll have to wait for my Docs to come through.

Thanks anyway everyone.

I've carried my tax disc in my top box for years and never had a problem. Even when pulled up plod hasn't had a problem as long as I have it on me. They know how many get nicked so are usually understanding.

Yes I see what you mean but I'm thinking of if a plod is behind me with ANPR camera in vehicle I'm all legal in respect of Tax MOT ins, Just I don't HAVE the tax disc.

Oh The Plate and Exhaust could cause a few "minor" talking points smile

You have hit the nail on the head with the 'other' offences.. they will use those to pull you over then do you for not displaying vehicle exciose license.

ANPR records number plates from the FRONT ONLY nothing else (yet) and is statically mounted; it does not 'read' the tax disc in the window, nor will it check from behind. The police cars do a PNC check which inlolves feeding the cars details into the Police databse... their database only tells them if the car is taxed or not, not whether it is displayed in the windoe! hehe
