I've had my exige s for 6 months now and yesterday I experienced my *THIRD* flying turn signal. I was driving at 80 mph and suddenlly the front turn signal on the driver's side (left side, I live in mainland europe) popped out of place and started hitting the front clam hanging by the wires. This is the third time this happens to me since I've bought the car from Lotus. A friend of mine with an Elise R had this happen to him once in 8 months.

I don't drive through uneven surfaces, only the very occasional pothole. I don't want to be replacing these once every two months, especially after my warranty runs out... any advice?

I had this happen with my elise. When I tried to fit the new indicator unit (the old one broke when it came out) I couldn't get it to stay in. I took it to my Lotus dealer and they filed the aperture in the clamshell to get a better fit for the new unit - they said it was common when fitting new indicators as they rarely fit properly first off. Could be the same thing causing yours to keep popping out.

Mine did this last year. Shangani (formerely of this forum, but that's another story!) very kindly filled in what was left with fibreglass. What I then did was file it so that the new unit only just fitted in. It's been in there since without a problem. The damage to the paintwork all polished out. smile

Clam thickness varies a little and it can cause the clip not to lock properly, so they keep flying out - best solution is AFAIK to file a little off the clam so the clip locates properly and also use some bungee cord to hold it down as well, in case the clip goes.

Thx for the replies guys... In my case however, one of the two plastic ends seems literally breaks... not sure why... How is that bungee cord made?

Some dealers have a trick where they file off some of the crash structure to stop it rubbing on the indicator unit. Castle did this for me the 2nd time it popped out (the other week).
