Bmw 328 rear diff

Can anyone tell me if the rear diff on a 328 s reg auto is different to a manual car many thanks

It's a different ratio - the manual is 2.93 - I think the auto is a 3.07 but not sure

If a auto diff was fitted to a car with a manual box would this make it over rev my one is doing 2000 revs at 30 mph in 5th any help would be very helpful many thanks

The car was an auto but has been changed to a manual its way over reving at 70 it doing about 5000 revs the cluth is fine and not slipping i just wanted to know if the auto diff would do this if so then i will change it many thanks

Out of interest why did you change the gearbox from auto to manual? Would it not have been a lot easier and cheaper to just sell the car and get a manual instead?

Something doesn't compute here. 5000 rpm at 70mph sounds like almost like third gear! See if there's still a tag on the diff with the ratio; it sounds like a 3.91.

The diff ratios in a UK spec car shouldn't be much different between manual and auto. It's not a far east import, is it?
