Hi All,

I've been racking my brains (before someones says it, no it didn't take long!!)& surfing the web to try and find that 80's advert which had a red Countach in it.
It's not the Pirelli one (although it's v nice), I think it was for Fiat (or someone like that) and the add used to say - What does the man who designs Lamborghini's drive to Lamborghini.... or something along whose lines!

Any help or leads would be much appreciated.

Regards

Ian

That was actually an advert for the then-new Citroen BX (or was that actually called the BS?.. they weren't great cars that's for sure!)

The designer that starred was Marcello Gandini (of course!) and the rather stylish villa (which may not have been his!) was a great feature as well as the Countach - but not his hairstyle (...come on, the 1980's - wot did you expect!?!?!) or, as mentioned, the Citroen!

Some of the roads used in that advert also feature in many of Bertone's promo videos that were made to show some of their creations to best effect - their Miura looks excellent on that twisty road - although, a Miura would look excellent on backsteets of Milan or even stuck on the A406... they might struggle a bit in Skelmersdale but there has never been anybody brave enough to see...

Marcello Gandini visited with the French Lamborghini club a few years ago for one of their weekends, discussing (in his near-perfect French) how he designed the Miura and the Countach (at least in the most-ness way, ie, most of the body bits, not the oily bits etc).

He looks to have recovered from his 1980's style faus-pas - most of us have(!) but not as well as he has!

Even if the car had a badge with the name Gandini on the side, a Citroen BS, sorry BX, still wouldn't have made up for the utter sheeeeeeee-ite hiding below the bodywork.

Citroen were still building them for years but as, we all know, MG got over being linked with the bloody things by designing the Cizeta and the Diablo - forza il maestro!
