I bought a w reg alfa 156 last week, the faulty light swich was on and i checked the bulbs on viewing and yes a rear number plate bulb had blown- i changed it and the new bulb was working but the dash light still on. hmmmm, i have the selespeed version and after reversing , i selected first and the gear engaged but the horrible beeping carried on- after 10 miles of this i was furious and had a little fit inside, slightly punching the console and hey presto the sound went
think i found the solution to alfa dodgy electrics

anyone else experienced these problems

First few weeks of Alfa ownership we had the 'bulb blown' light on the dash, all lights were working.... Then rear went so changed, light still on, then front one went, so changed both headlights just in case. Been fine ever since (over a year now).

I rather think it may be more sensitive and clever than I gave it credit for. May have actually recognized bulbs were about to go. But I think that's wishful thinking!

It may also be one is loose, try tightening all - but make sure your hands are as small as a monkeys for the headlight bulbs

I've had these symptoms on my 156 and it's usally the front side light bulbs. I'll be driving along and the warning light will come on to say a bulb has gone. Check the lights when I get home and they are all working. What I've found is that the bulb has developed a loose connection internally. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but the check circuit seems to pick it up. Once I've found the culprit the symptoms go away.

Our V plate 166 has developed a really annoying electrical problem.
It cannot work out whether or not there is a passenger and therefore whether it should deploy the airbag in the case of an accident. So every few minutes it repeatedly flashes a yellow dashboard warning light right in the driver's view that means "Help, there was a passenger here a minute ago and now it's gone!" Stupid thing, does it think we eject them or something? Gotta love alfa electrics...

Not actually sure it actually *has* a passenger weight sensor (but may well be wrong).
Try zip-tying the connector block up tight under the passenger seat; could simply be a loose connection.

Having driven a few of both, there are differences in driving style. Alfas tend to be way more aggressive in a sheer power kind of way. Fiats are generally light and lower-powered and have a go-kart effect which is tremendous fun also.

Fiat parts are a bit cheaper. In fact, I remember fixing the sills on my uno with hammerite biggrin

I was driving home, late at night and pulled back on the right stalk to clean the windscreen. Some water came out and the screen cleared. About 10 seconds later the instrument panel started beeping and flashing warning messages. It eventually settled, telling me that my glow plugs had failed.

I didn't know the 147 GTA HAD glowplugs.

Even if it had more faults, I'd forgive it, every drive.

They're missing - that's what the warning's telling you...

Same here, even though my car is currently in the garage, awaiting a full gearbox rebuild. rolleyes
So I can't drive it, but if I could, I'd forgive it.
