Having just sold my MX-5 I'm now looking at buying an Elise (a S2 111s). I'm struggling to get good insurance quotes. Best so far is just under £1200.

I'm 29, live in London, car will be parked outside in residents parking. I have 3 years no claims, with 1 claim (£16000 write-off) within the last 5 years. No points.

Any suggestions for firms that might be able to beat £1200?

I've used all the comparison sites and filled out the forms at Adrian Flux and A-Plan to have them call be back. Best so far is Bell btw.

Autotorque are good and will insure you on a classic car polict with a stipulated annual mileage.

If the best is Bell, then try Elephant, part of the Bell group, usually the cheapest, although just hope you don't have to claim as I'm told they are crap.

Try the regular car insurance sites on the net esp confused.com & moneysupermarket.com. I managed to get a cracking insurance deal via this route after I had had an accident. Managed the get a price 600 quid lower than my "alleged" specialist sports car insurance broker!!!

Good luck!

Unfortunately I'm currently insured with Elephant (on the sold MX-5, will have this changed into an Elise policy for 2 months or so). They make it very difficult to get a quote if you are with them.

I have already claimed once on an Elephant policy: the written off XK8. Quick, pleasant service and the paid what I expected, and even better were then cheapest when I wanted to insure the MX-5 a month later!

Another thumbs up for Auto Torque from me. Classic policy, no need for NCB, so keep that on a daily drive car if you have one and almost as cheap as my Focus TDCi. It's the future!

Have to say that my cheapest was Directline, just under £700 fully comp, although 34 and full no claims, also interestingly actually found it cheaper when I put my girlfriend on as an additional driver. Only real problem was that had to register Tracker, so thats £125 per year on top........
All insurance are moneygrabbing ******** in my opinion but you gotta do it.........

Yeah CCI have always done me a very good deal, push them from the first offer though and you can always manage another £20-50 off!
