I have a loud exhaust fitted by Monkfish and was wondering if anyone knew the noise rating on these systems. Im planning on taking the car around Castle Coombe but they have a 100db rating. Anyone know ?

The best course of action is to go along to somewhere like Goodwood at anytime throughout a working day, including Saturdays and get them to do you a sound test, all they ask you to do is to drop two bob into the "tea fund".

The manufacturers noise ratings should be seen as a guide - it's hard to accurately make the exhausts have the same level and I've seen the exact same exhaust setup on different cards read completely different. For example, a new echaust will generally be louder (and tinnier) than an old one thats got carbo build up inside.

The best plan is just go along to the nearest easytrack/bookatrack/etc trackday and ask the organisers to test the car. You don't have to do the trackday and all of them will be happy to do this (as far as I know).

I have the full system (headers/manifolds, cats, and straight through cat back system on my CV8 and that's WAAY too loud for a track (approx 125db+)

I'm intending to go to Coombe in April for one of their track days - but I'm not particularly expecting to pass noise tests.. but I'll have a go (6.0 with Wortec cat-back)

I don't think you will pass the noise tests at Combe on anything but a standard system, I did a couple of Porsche days there, aircooled 911s were failing with standard exhausts.
