Hi everyone, just seen the press release regarding the 'new' my08 Europa.

I'm in the market for a new europa, and am about to purchase one when this release came out last night, so could anyone offer advice as to what I should be paying for a new one now !!

Any ideas on what people have been purchasing these machines for recently ?

From what I understand, its very difficult to shift these units, but could do with some ammunition when approaching my dealer later this week.

Thanks
Rog

Hi Rog - I certainly wouldn't want to pay more than £30k, since it will probably lose at least another £5k off that once it's left the showroom. There are some good ex-dem deals around if you're prepared to travel.

Europa pricing is all over the place. Best advice is don't pay list, haggle a price that YOU are happy with and go from there.

If you have to finance, the Best way is to go PCP on Europa's as you may get quite a generous future value! If you are a cash buyer just haggle.

There are lots about but depending on the spec you want it may need to go back to Hethel. Some have the 225 upgrade but many don't - you really need that. Very few have the 'luxury' interior; and I didn't come across any that had both.

Just look around, there a reasonable red one in the classifieds but that will need the 225 and i'm not sure that tan goes with red!

Go for it though, fully spec'd they are lovely!

Don't forget you can get the standard ones retrimmed to luxury spec by the lotus trim shop for a grand or 2. Go for one of the exdemo ones for 25k & do a deal whereby they get it retrimmed & do the 225 upgrade.

They ain't shifting at the moment so you've got the upper hand.

There are a few 2007 cars around the £25K mark in the network and some have the 225 upgrade. This upgrade also included cross drilled Exige brake discs. That's what I bought!

I think that is stunning value compared to other Lotus models.....and the Cayman.

I'd push for a SE spec car for 30k OTR

Driven all variant's and it really is a very under estimated car love it!

Just bought an ex-manager car from a main dealer. Got the power upgrade, brake upgrade and Luxuary pack interior. Exceptionally low mileage 07 car for a little bit more than 25k. Apart from 2 stone chips, it's like brand new.

I've been looking around for quite a while. The prices vary hugely in different dealers. They give you different prices to do the upgrade too. So travel around and haggle hard. Don't buy new. The MY08 SE model is exactly the same as mine I reckon, apart from the wheels and more choice on colour. Not worth it in my opinion.

Can I ask what colour your car is (pics?) as I am interested in one of these in that kind of spec and price?

Really, I only want a black one with fancy the tan interior

Interesting to hear of cars selling at £25K - clearly this is the level Lotus needs to be pricing it at rather than spending all the money for a price cut at the Ripspeed counter in Halfords

£5K - £7K depreciation in year one isn't that shocking compared to the competition.

Before plumping for my Europa I looked at Cayman S models that had dropped from £49K with options to £39K in just one year, and had still had much further to fall than a £25K Europa does.

Yes, it is not a rock-solid investment like a 111R or Elise S, but it still is better value than the Cayman and Z4.

Just bought a brand new Europa, with delivery mileage for £24995, if that is any help?

Am picking it up in about 90 minutes...... Just waiting for it to be registered!

I got an 07 MY car in black with cream and black interior and in my eyes it looks great in these colours. If you want pictures of it let me know and I will post some or send them direct. It has all the upgrades regarding power, brakes and interior. Goes like stink and I love it. I paid just over 26k for it at very low mileage. Now is a good time to buy any car as the market is always depressed in winter and everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment with the ecomomy woes.

I would like to see the SE before commeting on the wheels. I was thinking of going smaller fronts and dropping the front ride height but perhaps bigger rears would look better. Either way they have loads of grip in the dry and are 'entertaining' in the wet.

Nice.

Yeah, they are good value. Mine was in a similar price range for 7 months old and less than 2500 miles, with the brake and 225 upgrade included - (not the luxury Touring interior though)

Mine is slightly more than that, not much, but includes all the upgrades and the luxury interior. Wasn't going to buy it without the revised interior!

The car came from Formula 1 car sales in Newcastle, reduced from £29,995 to £24,995 last weekend, and I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.....

So much better than the Audi TT, which was the other option.

I have now done 150 miles last night and this morning. Suprised at how comfortable it is.... ok, that may be a relative thing compared to a trinketed german coupe, but the important thing is it is not UNcomfortable. I suppose what I mean is that the car is actually a practical driving car.....

Cruising at 70mph on the motorway, there is no engine noise, just wind and tyre noise.

Planning a tour of Northern England this weekend to run it in to the point of first service.....

I agree with Lupus assessment of the car.

I have a 530d , with my old Elise S1 as a 'Sunday morning car'

Having replaced the Elise with the Europa, I really think I'm going to replace the Beemer with a cheaper shed to use on the really grotty days (or in really grotty places) and use the Europa most of the time. It's that good as an all rounder. Superb track day car, fairly comfy, cheaper to run and service than the Beemer.
