I've had a good 5-6 years off a bike but getting a massive itch that needs scratching and was wondering what bike to get for around 2-2.5k?

I previously had a slab sided GSXR750 and I managed not to kill myself quite well on that.

It would be used 2 days a week for an 11mile commute then an odd blst at weekends but what to get? I'm quite tall (6'4) which can be an issue sometimes, my old gixxer was a tad uncomfy after an hour.

Anyway you can get anything from an older Fireblade to and R1 to a 50cc moped with that budget. Obviously the idiot in me says just go out and get an older R1 and have done with it.....a VFR750 prob more sensible though but I dunno. I could see me getting bored with something "lesser" very quickly.

What do you lot think? Is it feasible to pick up an older Fireblade for instance, run it for a year an sell it on with little depreciation?

I would get bored of an SV....I know I would.

I want something that's terrifying....or there's no point.

Well who knows to be honest. What one person loves, another hates.

If you dont wanna spend too much money, how about a 2000 ish R1.. Not quite as edgy as the 1998-1999 and a few niggles ironed out.. or if you want something a little more comfortable but supremely fast, how about a 1998 onwards ZX-9r??
Or if you want something fast but not very pretty maybe a GSXR1000 K1. Loads of lowdown grunt. Just looks a little bland to me. but just noticed that would push the budget a bit i think

Or the safe bet a 2000 era Blade. Fast, comfortable, confidence inspiring and well built..

Just a few ideas but i'd test ride a few and get a better idea.
