600cc Fazer

Ok folks, I'm pretty much set on the Fazer right now, as I like the looks, build quality is excellent and most of all I hear so many people (instructors, police and on forums) raving about them as a great 1st big bike.

But I feel I should spread the net a little wider, so are there are other suggestions out there for a bike to earn my stripes with?

Suzuki SV650 (twin)

Any of these are fine first bikes. I do like Yamahas as the finish is very good on them but it has been said the Fazer lacks midrange, ever since the old Thundercat motor was replaced by the 2004ish R6 engine.

Test drive them if you can.

after doing the same, reading, getting recommendations etc.. I bought a Fazer FZS 600 just after passing my DAS. glad I did as it was a great bike, fast, good around town, great to commute with and great for a blast on the weekend.

I never had 1 problem with mine when I owned it. a great first bike anf I would have kept if if I did not need the money for the new bike and/or had the room in tha garage

I was very impressed with the Fazer and cannot recommend it enough. mine was the 2001 carb model which again from what I was told was the best fazer out of the lot.
