OK so i'm getting to the end of my tether and i need your help.

How can i put petrol in my Chimaera at a reasonable speed. It takes about ten minutes to put a tenners worth in (anybody with a Chimaera knows that a tenner will probably get you to the next petrol station)

It seems to be the vertical intake that knackers it.

Surely one of you Chimaera veterans has found a trick to fuel at speed. Please share this wisdom with me.

I beginning to get fuel pump cramp

thank you

No problems with mine - suggest you may have a blocked tank breather?

Old accident damage somewhere? My old company Sierra filled very slowly after I mashed the side with fuel filler on.

Same here!! I have to take a day off to fill my tank.. and another one to get over paying for it.

The only tricky bit that I encountered at first was getting the nozzle into the filler neck! Once that's done you can fill at a 'normal' rate, however I tend to use about 3/4 of max rate to prevent any splash back when the tank becomes full.
Does the filler nozzle keep clicking off when you fill? Do you get fuel splashing up out of the filler? Has your car always had this problem, or just recently?

This has been covered before, suggest carrying out a search.

Here is what I do. Nozzle in with handle/trigger facing 6 o' clock. Gently press down nozzle and turn clockwise to approx. 4 o' clock position. The nozzle then drops down a further 50 mm. This allows filling at the usual speed.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem, but found that if I held the fuel pump to the left (at a slight angle) then it just gussels in, in no time without the cutting out every 3 secs

I've never had a problem with filling up, on current or old Chimaera. Get someone to check it out on your next service and don't accept a 'they all do that'

Mine's a pain every time, every pump. Got used to it - keep the latest issue of Sprint in the boot to pass the time!

I find the trick is to ensure the nozzle is all the way in.. to acheive this you have to have the pump hanele touching the bootlid and it takes a bit of a knack to do it.. otherwise it fills slowly.

Cheers
Matt.

As previously commented - check the fuel tank breather pipe. If its blocked then there is no where for the fumes to escape and hence they go back up the filler - which is triggered by pressure and hence switches off....

I personally have no problems with mine and it litterally flows in with no time to get the credit card out! The only problem is that the fuel gauge is so crap that I either get Full, 200 miles later, it comes of full and drops to empty in less than 50.... bugger....

So, not just me then. Good!
I found things very tricky indeed, the nozzle would be as verticle as I could get it but kept stopping.
Untill the happy day that I got the boot to open further by just twizzlig the little shock absorber support strut adjustment.
This gave it a crucial extra little bit of boot opening.
Still not the best verticle entry but a vast improvement.

they're meant to fill up slowly - this gives you quality time to admire the beast from behind!
