should i go to this interview
Discussion
A little while ago I applied for a job that was a step down from what i have been doing recently, (i am currently working in a completely different field, but i would like to return) but full time instead of part time, so financially worthwhile. I then spoke to the line manager who indicated that he felt i would be over qualified and that there was a possibility that a post more relevent to my experience may develop in the next few months, following this i didnt expect my application to go any further. The other day i unexpectedly received an invite to interview for the original post.
Now the question is is it worth me attending this interview a it would seem the line manager would be reluctant to offer me, although a bit of interview practice might be helpful, would it prejudice my applications for the possible future post (the funding for which depends on someone taking the fist post on a part time basis.
what do you guys think?

I don't think it can do you any harm myself. Interview experience is always useful - maybe it'll get you wired in to what they ask and what they want for if you go back and get interviewed for the other role? Additionally it sounds like they have some flexibility and expansion plans so if they really like you who knows what might be offered? Can't do any harm.
