Allow me to share a thought - wife and i want to change our estate car. Is the 1st generation Porsche tuned Audi RS2 any good?

Might be worth posting this on the Audi forum as well. The question has been asked on there (by me for one) so worth doing a search.

I really wanted to buy one of these and looked into it for a while. JeremyC has one and was very helpful pointing me in the direction of various useful places to find out more. The general concensus seems to be yes, they are bloody marvellous. My problem was finding one for sale at a sensible price, with sensible mileage and decent history. In the end I gave up and bought something completely different but I still think I have unfinished business with RS2s!

Good luck though, I don't think you'll regret buying one of these.

Unless it goes wrong...

They can cost a fortune to put right and are more highly strung than normal, so break more often. Make sure you don't buy a dog or it will bite you. Bottom ends can go at 100k, for example.

It is a specialist car for enthusiasts. If that fits your bill, good choice. If not, walk away and get a 2.8 Avant A4 etc.

Cheers

Here is the thread that you need.

Oh, and they are, of course, fantastic. Find a good'un and it is unlikely to depreciate much.
