I`ve just had a blow out on the motorway last weekend. Knackered the front 18" spider but managed to get myself one off here.I`m running S02`s all round and now obviously cannot order one for love nor money. All the others are fine with only about 1500 miles on them. I have in the garage a pair of 235/40/18`s S02`s with good tread on them. Has anyone used this size on the front? Or shall I have to dig deep and pay for a new pair of 235/35 Toyos. I`m running 245/40/18`s on the rear and don`t suffer any rubbing, any suggestions?

Can't imagine that the extra bit of meat will cause any issues .... if they are just sat there, it's certainly worth the trial in any case. Would suggest getting the tracking/alignment re-checked once fitted though.

Dont know if this helps but I have 255/30/18 on the front and they touch the arch when pushing in a bend and need to come off. Would think that since a 235/40 would have a slightly larger diameter you may have a problem but it depends on your ride height settings.

My maths 30% x 255 = wall depth of 76.5mm

and 40% x 235 = wall depth of 94mm

As Paul has suggested above, I`ll put them on due to them being there, but knowing my luck I`ll be buying a new pair within the week!

I have fitted 225/40/18 on the front without any problems, I know it is not the size you are on about but it is a step in the right direction

The 40 profile tyres will rub the inside of the inner sill in full lock situations.

Yes, the lockstops stop the spiders scraping the wishbones. I've tried it so thats how i know, i fitted them then took em off.

Sorry, i meant i fitted the tyres then took em off, the lockstops are needed with spiders or you will be machining your wheels!
