Hi, were looking at the different payment gateways for ecommerce sites, and wondered what others had found good. some of the charges can make your eyes water, and others integrating them can be a pita...

google checkout looks interesting 1.5% + 0.15p per trans and you can offset that against your adwords spend...

anyone?

Blimey, that is good, is there any data though about customer reaction to having to sign up with google to use it?

I know broadly speaking its a trusted brand, just wondering really.

That is my only concern. I know it puts me off if i have to sign up to paypal.

but google does have a much better rep than paypal....

google checkout :-- https://checkout.google.com/seller/?hl=en&gl=G...

the integration looks quite good as well, you can even do it all via e-mail if you dont have an e-commerce site, but the click here and give us your cc details in an e-mail looks open to phishing !!!

I looked into Google checkout but I need to be able to receive offline payments and you cannot do this with Google, plus the customer sign up side of it put me off. Have a look at WorldPay and Paypal website payments pro they seem a little better IMO.

I don't do many transactions but have always used PayPal and suffered their high rates. I have recently received my first payment through Google Checkout done by sending a payment request to the person concerned - from my side it was very easy and I have it set up so the money automatically goes to the bank account rather than having to request it. The best thing, however, is that I received the full amount of the payment as the charges were offset by the adwords spend. I will definitely be encouraging this as a payment method in future.

I haven't paid anything yet via Google so haven't had to set up an account from that side, but I guess it is only like PayPal was initially with people being sceptical and needing to input their data, I certainly had some people who paid by cheque for things rather than sign up with PayPal but that seems less of a problem now so presumably will go away with Google Checkout.
