You are going to wear those FAQ's out, you know :-)

the personal reasons for not racing at easter.
i wont go into detail.
but one of our crews family has a very serious illness.
we felt as a team it would not be right to race at this time.
so we pulled the plug.
gary and the crew are very eager to go racing.
and we are hoping to be at the main event.
but family comes first.

...are absolutely no-one's business but the team member involved. None of the rest of us needs to know, I was asked not to state the reason on the news update, nor would I have done anyway. OK Jon I won't wear out the FAQ any further

Eurodragster is a beacon of journalistic integrity. I can think of three stories over the last few years that had any other news organisation got hold of, would have been handled a lot less sensitively. Those with very long memories will remember what the tabloid media did to a star of the sport from the mid-1970s.
Eurodragster has never lost sight of its core aims, the promotion and reportage of European Drag Racing. Long may this continue.
You carry on, Togster, no need for explanation or justification here.
Hmm, I wasn't fishing for compliments but thanks anyway.
I agree with you 100% on the privacy thing. Unfortunately there are even other drag racing web sites you can go to if you don't believe in privacy or, occasionally, basic decency - and I say that as someone who freely admits that he too can be curious to the point of intrusion, enjoys a gossip, and can also be a complete b
d on occasion (again not fishing for compliments so don't...oh, you weren't going to were you
).
The internet has done wonderful things for drag racing and probably has done so for the other bit of the world, but what it has also done is spawned the belief that everyone has a right to know absolutely everything about anything or anyone, and that is not a good thing. That general belief has in itself spawned a particularly loathsome new breed, of people who like to imply that they have inside knowledge or who play "I know something you don't know" in an attempt to gain status. Before the internet they were known as the man in the pub, but nowadays every Forum on the planet has got them (although not on this particular thread luckily).
However we are starting to go off topic and I'm going off on one of my Grumpy Old Man rants so I will shut up.
