T350 water temp problems?

Hi guys,

Was on the motorway today and cruising at 70mph the water temperature was around 80 o C as usual. On the way home there was a big traffic jam with traffic not moving at all. Slowly the temperature crept up to around 105-106 o C and oil to about 90 o C. The water level is fine and both fans are kicking in, so I am not sure what it could be? There is obviously some sort of issue as most peoples cars don't reach those temperatures, especially on during the winter.

Looking at previous posts it might be worth replacing the water temperature sensor, are they expensive?

Any ideas?

Had the same issue with mine. I replaced the water sensor and it never went above 96 degrees. It was £13 to buy. I bought it online from Racing Green TVR - http://www.thetvrshop.com/TVR/Parts_details/TVR%20...

It's a 20 minute job to change. You need to remove the air filter which is about 2-3 screws, unclip and remove the filter box then you will see the sensor. It should be labelled. Replace it with the new one but be careful not to tighten it to tight. They can snap quite easily.

Also check you're not losing water. Mine did this because of a loose coolant hose clip.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. I also replaced mine. It was from a mk2 golf. I bought it on ebay for 3 quid.

Did you loose any water when you changed the temp sesnor, ie/ did you have to re-bleed the water system?

Think my sag could do with one.
