Hi

I have a 1600 Ford X flow with a gt head running on twin 40 dellortos, kent 244 cam etc... It has been set up on a (I am told) reliable rolling road and achieved 130 bhp! My questin is if I put a "stage 4" head on this engine would I achieve a healthy increase in power? Would it just be a simple bolt on job without having to change other components? I take it the car would need tuning again?

Any help much appriciated!

The beauty of carbs is that providing the main jets are more or less right ( which yours should be) then small changes after that will be compensated for. I would have said you can whack a big valve head on and carry merrily on. The ignition timing might need a tweak tho'

With that 244 cam and bigger valved head(done properly)you are gonna need twin 45,s,twin 40s are only good up to about what HP you are showing already and will hold the numbers back(what size chokes you running)you then have to start playing with bigger bore Ex manifolds etc, after the spec you have already it starts getting expensivefrown yes i speak from experience, good luckthumbup
