Hi all, sorry for the constant questions biggrin

Looking at track day insurance for my car (£30k Exige), I see there are different options for insurance.

As I understand it you get some choices. The first is that you don't insure for the full value of your car (is that right?). Or at least you get the choice. So in rolling chassis insurance, if I insured a £30k car for £15k then they are only covering the chassis; which wouldn't cost £15k to correct (for example)...?!

However, if the engine is included, then it's essentially the whole car and therefore £30k worth is required? Is that right?

I would have a word with Eggar lawson / competition car insurance - they will be able to answer your questions.

you need to go to moris insurance - do a google.

however if you've insured your 30k car for 15k, then you get 15k's worth of cover. if you only insure the rolling chassis then the engine would not be included in the accident, if you go for full cover then the engine would be covered - by engine i mean mounting points, damage to diff casings, and the like - upto the value of the insured amount.

i would say that realistically you only really need to cover for about 5-8k, if you require 15k's worth of cover then you've written the car off, and you shouldn't of been driving that fast on a track day nono

i would of thought that a normal off would either stove the front or rear in, or give a glancing blow to all four corners, either way, 5-8k should cover it.

imho
