Do you guys ever use drive through washes?
Discussion
Do you guys ever use drive through car washes, I don't mean the automatic/massive machine ones, I mean the ones where the guys hand clean your car and dry it after. I'm sure they are not great for your car but are so cheap, quick and convenient, especially so in winter.
Don't get me wrong I like to take care of my cars and polish/wax occasionally, but if I want it looking clean most of the time then I haven't got time to do it myself.

I have done and do if the weather is terrible. There is a good wash in West hampstead and a second one in Chiswick. Probably two or three times a year in the depths of winter and the guys do a decent job and are very careful....car is blown dry and they use different mitts on top and bottom of the car.

Waterless? How the fk does that work - sandblasting? At this point I say No!
I think if you say yes they raise your windscreen wipers to indicate this car is to be washed <spends 10 mins lifting wipers that'll keep em busy! >
If you say yes they attack your car with a couple of spray bottles & a SHAMmy leather!
Now look - if I had the money to buy a serious piece of prestige motoring nirvana, I can only imagine that I wouldn't need to scrimp when it came to looking after it. I'd pay the £3000 service bills with a smile on my face. And I would make damn sure it was cared for as well as possible. It takes 5 minutes of internet research to learn an awful lot about basic car washing principles, and how to avoid making a mess of lovely new paintwork. A good wash mitt costs £7.
I recently saw one of these roadside cretins scrubbing the roof of a car with a common or garden broom.
The car in question was a black, 57 plate Aston Martin DB9.
The owner, presumably, is a tw@. I make no apologies for this view.

Blimey! I can't quite get so protective of my cars as some here.
For sure, I wouldn't let a hippy at traffic lights near my windscreen, and I might well get her detailed this year (after a nose-job for the scuffs), but the Eastern Europeans near me do a very good job for the money - clean water, careful, and decent products. I'd happily recommend them.

My A4 is booked for a detail in August as it has covered 160K. With this in mind, I have happily shelled out £6 to the local "Hand Jobs" place to wash it using snow foam and some proper mitt type things. Been dead impressed up until last time when they used a long-handled brush to do the windscreen, leaving a load of scratches all over it. Serious p*** boiler when this happened, seeing as the new screen had only been fitted 3 weeks prior to the visit.
