Tuscan gearbox

Can anyone tell me if the gearbox fitted to a Tuscan 'S' is a close ratio box?
If they are, have they always been?

Some of the earlier one's weren't, not sure of the dates but up to late 01 at least there seems to be a bit of a mix.

Beleive it or not, some new Ss were delivered with a note saying they had been fitted with a standard box (due to lack of availability) but were entitled to a free upgrade later - I don't think everyone actually got it!

If you look on the side caseing you will see stamped on it CR (nearside)............. Hope this helps.

You could always try driving as fast as you can in 1st gear. If you can reach 60mph, then you have the close ratio gearbox.
(This helped give a very impressive 0-60 time for the marketing material)
