Have tried the search function but cannot find the topic.

Fairly recently someone posted a picture of a mod they had made to the cooling system on a V8. They had fitted what appeared to be an air bleed valve, from a domestic central heating system, into one of the hoses feeding the heater matrix in the dashboard.

Anyone got a link/pointer to this ?

TIA,

KJR

Ive never had a problem with air locks. I fill it up via both swan neck and overflow tank. Run it up to temperature with swan neck cap off, until you see water being pumped around with heater on hot. Water will rise and start to overflow through swan neck. Replace that cap 1st, then cap on tank.

Hi,

I've certainly done this, but not sure if there's a link. Basically all you need are a couple of solder type 15 mm fittings and an in-line bleed valve from a central heating system. Cut the top hose to the heater matrix and insert. You need the solder fitings to give the hose something to grip. If I can find a piccy, I'll post it.

Gerry,

thanks for the info.

If you have a picture that would be handy.

Done here as well also. About £2.50 all in excluding solder and gas for the iron or was it on the hob?

Hope you don't mind me nipping in with the pic.

T piece and a boiler bleed thingamabob.

I have a slight issue running the car to get out the airlocks after rad removal or thermostat alterations etc. Noise and neighbors. I like it here and don't want the burning pitchforks etc.

Personal experience says it works at least for my set up, before the mod I was forever having issues. Less mucking around after a refill and a quick blat to prove its OK and button it back up without and top up. I had a few other issues like pipes from the inlet manifold at a similar level to the expansion tank level and all that so a bit of messing with that also helped.
