I suppose the answer is no but, is it possible to lift some of the body just high enough to clean and paint the chassis rails that run down the sill without doing a full body lift with tank and insides taken out? There is no way you can treat them with the body in place, the outriggers you can get to ok, its just the tube that joins front to rear outriggers. I was thinking I could run a strip of emery around the tube with the body in place but having now had a proper look I can see its a big no no.

Cheers, Ric.

I think you can actually, I'm sure someone on here did it to repair an Outrigger.

Nope, tank and interior pieces come out so you can get to the bolts that hold the body down.

Getting the tank out is a pain, and you have to drill out the seatbelt anchoring points inside the inner sill, so seats out. If your going that far you may aswell do the lot, it will be rotten where your exhaust passes really close in the engine bay...probably.

Sounds like this is going to be a pain in the arse, or very expensive or both!
Has anybody got a rough idea of price for a body off job/chassis refurb?

I'm saving mine for next year.

When it's off it's have the whole lot done, chassis, wishbones, bushes etc. Much ceahper to do it all in one hit.

Brummie and Windsor can give you a good idea of the costs associated, garage mates rates and DIY. wink
