Boxster Battery Problems

Any suggestions to following
2000 2.7 Boxster been off road for winter; battery been off car but on charge, fitted into car but nothing will turn over, all lights come on dash which is then followed by alarm when turn key
Am I missing something in the installation; what can be simpler than putting a battery on?

Thanks but i tried that several times to try and set the the alarm but still nothing hasppens

Battety's dead. Ours had this. Supplies enough current to power the electrics but can't even get close to turning the engine over. Also confuses the alarm.

Agent006, have come to same conclusion thanks for the confirmation.
Tried to jump start today, alarm keeps going on/off; any ideas best place for the earth link from the jumper battery; no good place under bonnet so clipped onto front coil spring but still not a good enough connection to make a good earth.

In the book it says use the door lock bolt but this is useless.

Can't help on that front. Ours happened when the car was a few months old, so all done by Porsche Assist.
