Got shunted on the M25. Ouch, it hurt!!!
Discussion
Now all of you know the cars I usually drive, and what I do, but this weekend, I had some family things I needed to attend to, so I took a Volvo XC90 home.
I never take the M25 on Fridays, as the traffic going home is usually a nightmare, but this Friday, I did.
40 MPH limit, traffic in-front at a standstill, I was nearly stopped, when all hell breaks loose, the car gets lifted from behind and goes sideways onto the hard shoulder.
Not a clue what has just happened, the last mirror check showed road clear behind me, what the hell hit me.
Turns out a truly sorry guy in one of those combined cab pick up trucks thought he saw a gap in lane one, floored it to undertake the lorry I was sat behind, out of his view, and had reached about 40 mph when his windscreen filled up with Volvo.
The things that I remember are these;
It was good to see another truly decent human being do all he could to help me. Yes, it was his fault, but he stopped, and wouldn't leave until he was sure I was looked after.
The adrenaline prevented me from feeling any pain until about half an hour later when I got to bagshot, felt dizzy, pulled over wondering what the hell was going on, and promptly fell out of the car when I opened the door.
The noise was horrendous. Totally took me by surprise, so it sounded mush worse than it really was.
And how little damage there actually is to the Volvo compared to the total destruction his car suffered. Yes, I need new rear quarters, new boot, new bumper and such like, but his car was demolished at the front.
Anyway, went to hospital on Friday evening for a check up, only got mild whiplash, and concussion, but boy do I ache.
Just don't want to think about the outcome had I been driving the sorts of things I usually take home.
Take care out there.
Ruttboy.

Perhaps if he'd been properly considerate you wouldn't have been wiped out in the first place. True accidents (i.e. unavoidable) are rare IMO...

as you are always on here bragging about what you drive can you say what you personally own I never take the M25 on Fridays, as the traffic going home is usually a nightmare, but this Friday, I did.

Wasn't aware I was bragging about anything. Those who know me will realise that I am just a very lucky individual that is employed to do something I love.
Never made it out that I own the cars I drive.
Personally, I have a BMW 330d Touring for the family, a Mini Cooper S Cab for my wife, and a 350Z Roadster for fun.
The Mini and 350Z are going for a new toy this year, haven't decided what yet.
Thanks to all for your kind wishes.

gging him off about what cars he drives. Are you a moron during the week, or is it a full 7 day membership?
Unbelievable.
I also refer to your comment made here:
"well i used all 4 fchat, club scuderia, piston heads.Fgear and been banned from all 4 numerious times"
Get a grip.

Bit of an odd question at a time when someone is injured...
Get well.
Interesting that a 4x4 pickup gets destroyed by a Volvo (4x4). If it was a young person in a Fiesta or similar he might well be dead. Makes you think... just minding your own business and some pillock takes a big risk and wrecks your life. Suddenly, I like the idea of 4x4s.

I would have thought its more to do with the front of the car (with crumplezones) hitting the rear of the car (much tougher) rather than the cars involved.Get well.

Get well soon, hope there's no lasting affects.
sorry to hear about the accident, but as you point out, it's nice that the other party took the humanistic approach rather than trying to defend or protect himself.
Great to see you're responding in kind and not trying to make more of it than necessary
all too rare in this litigious society we live in.
Glad you're ok, it could have been much worse and i'm happy it wasn't
