I'm on holiday in Italy and due to drive home on the 13th September which by chance is the day before the Monza GP. Mrs. M has suggested I divert the drive by a few KM's and go and watch it, she and baby M will stay in a hotel and soak in some more sun. Obviously I'm completely under the thumb and not one to argue wink

I know nothing about Italy, even less about the Monza GP apart from what I've seen on tele. Any advice would be appreciated about the GP, with perhaps suggestions of local hotels, best way to get to the track etc etc

Cheers

I went in 2001. Stayed in Milan. There were plenty of trains direct to Monza station from Milan. Como is also a popular place to stay.

It wasn't a particularly memorable race, but the atmosphere was fantastic, the Gazzetta girls were gorgeous, we stood on a bridge and Montoya came underneath us at 200+, it was good value for money (pit straight seats were about £75 I think) and at the end we ran onto the track and were underneath the huge red Ferrari flag on the pit straight. Afterwards we had a good walk round the park and scrambled onto the old track which was truly spectacular and very eerie. Got some great photos.

I love Italian "stuff" so maybe I am a bit biased but I think of all the GPs that was the one I really wanted to go to and it didn't disappoint. I hope you get there!

Thanks Wombat

Looking to book tickets fairly soon and I see there's a grandstand by the first corner - should be good for a bit of action now cars have to be driven rather than guided!
