Hey Guys,

Whilst in the process of doing the carpets, thinking of sorting out the front seatbelts as they dont always retract all the way...work fine as belts but have to help them to go back into the door pods...

SO...question is, how do they come out? They look like they are bolted onto a steel bar linked to teh chassis behind the door with an allen key bolt??? Anyone know where i can get fresh ones?

Cheers all!!

I believe the seatbelt mountings are bolted through a metal plate that is welded onto the outriggers, so can be a bit fiddly smash. Another good reason to make sure the outriggers are sound I think.

There is probably an easy way of doing it though...

Agree with Tempus. Ive got a pair of 500/30 on mine. Spot on.

They may still not retract that well though, as they tend to rub on the tubular frame in there, and they can snag on the leather on the retraction hole under to top mount.

They do look much better than rusty, faded, dodgy ones though!

If the belts are okay otherwise, and the only problem is, that they dosn`t go back on their rolls, you can use "cockpit spray". My belts did the same, I had to help every time. After pulling out the belts completely, I sprayed them with cockpit spray both sides. Now the belts snap back very quick and absolute complete on their rolls.

Dunno if WD40 is safe on nylon webbing. Udo - what's in Cockpit Spray? Is it silicone grease?

To remove the belt you will need to access a bolt on the sill plate for the belt's lower mounting. There are 2 more bolts on the B Pillar.

Replacement belts can be bought from Rimmers and other Classic restoration shops - the same belts are used on Triumph TR's.

Dont´t know, of which substances cockpit spray is. But please wd40 only for the metal-parts!!! Cockpit spray (its mainly for the plastic parts in the car) on both sides of the belts makes them slippery - and IT WORKS. For a very long time.
