Larini Exhaust on Exige S; video clips!

Hi all

I've taken the plunge

The exhaust on my 111S was so flipping good (dam I miss that car!) that I wanted to go with Larini again. So, I've got the first exhaust they've done for an Exige S...

As I was doing it and taking said plunge, I decided to go the whole hog and have the sports cat too.

First impressions are that it's technically a superb exhaust. No "boominess" (I think the official term is resonance) at motorway speeds or town speeds and it's really quite acceptable in the cabin. When the engine is doing high revs though, it's sounds awesome! I was quite surprised; got a friend of mine to drive it away from me yesterday and it sounds like a bike or F1 car, not a road car

For now, I give you these; they don't capture the sound too well, but my goodness is that sound a good one.

Thats how the Exige should sound...


So... can I get a Larini exhaust for a 111R? if so, how much? and can you get track legal ones?

You can; a fair few people have had them on here I think. Just search for "Larini" and stuff should pop up. I think there's some videos on YouTube too; the S2 Exige (non S) and 111R have the same engine so the exhaust is the same I beleive.

Wow indeed, but truthfully, whilst normal motorway running, is it noticeably louder than a standard exhaust , I’ve got the same one my exige o4 came with and its only just about expectable on long journeys?

Well done Tony, will have a listen later but if it's anything like the Larini I've heard on a 111R then it's a damn fine sounding bit of kit

My car came with a Lotus Stage II exhaust, so I must be honest I don't know how it compares to a standard one; but I'd say it's similar in noise to the Lotus stage II for motorway journeys etc.

Do you get the emissions light coming on with that sports cat?

Rich - no, the sports cat means that, effectively, it's as the normal car should be so no MIL lights/emission lights like the de-cat in my old 111S caused.

Hi Myles, are you talking about a 111R or Exige S exhaust? If the latter, then I've got the only one they've made so simply phone up Larini and they'll be able to explain a bit more (I don't know if it has a name yet). If the former, I don't know the different types; I believe there's some info on Larini's website.

That sounds fantastic! Was talking to the chap at Larini (sorry can't remember his name) the other day when ordering a system for my 111S. He asked were I heard about them from and when I said it was all your fault (due to the clips of your car!) he said he had just been chatting to you about the Exige. Mine currently at the garage having it fitted - can't wait to get it back now!!

im gonna go against the grain and say its not that great sounding to me. just doesn't 'scream' like id like it to. how much do the toyota engines rev to?
