Hi all,

Despite not being able to afford it, my thoughts have turned towards what to do for my next car and a part of me really wants to have a classic. I've got a bit of a dream to track down my father's old Series 1 '59 Lotus Type 14 Elite and see if the current owner would be interested in selling it at any point in the future.

Is there any reasonably easy way of tracking this person/vehicle down? I see on the DVLA site that the car is currently registered (which may or may not be accurate). It's possible that the car is still on the Club Lotus books as well. Is there anyone who could possibly help?

I'd just love to have this car in the garage at some point. My father had it before I was born, but it was growing up with a photo of it on my wall that led to my love of all things Lotus, and it'd be awesome to finally have it come home in the future. smile

Google throws up a few links such as http://stuart.strickland.net/elite/

Maybe worth an email around those places and trying to get word through to any enthusiasts clubs that they may in turn know George..?

To be honest, give your track record, if anyone can - you can!

Lovely story and would be absolutely magic if it worked out thumbup

Thanks for that Clive and my googling revealed the same site and an e-mail has already been sent to the site admin asking if he can help smile

It'll be a few years away before I could do it, but I'd still love to make contact with the current owner if possible just to let them know that if they're ever in a position to sell they can consider it spoken for.

Would make a great garage-companion to the Exige, given that the two cars are pretty much an identical concept separated by 42 years smile

Indeed. Stuff of dreams really. Fingers crossed but if it's no longer around (frown) then perhaps a project to recreate a close replica could be undertaken..? That too would be a special thing for sure

Is your father still alive?

Yes, father is stil alive and well smile and yeah, the alternative is to do a resto project on a similar model, but it would be preferable to get the actual car if I can smile
