Power after re-map and decat

I recently had my T350 decatted and remapped by Paul at Austec and find the results very pleasing

I hope I don't get a load of posts about not comparing different rolling roads but wondered what kind of results other people have got with the same setup.

Max power: was 344.2/now 364.3
Max power at 7615 RMP
Torque: was 262.1/now 262.7
Max torque at: was 5890/now 5910

The results above don't appear to be great increases, especially in torque but it feels very different to drive. Much quicker lower down the rev range.

Glad you've had a good result that you can detect on the road

From your post the main difference must have been raising the torque curve at low or mid-rpms.

But the top-end power gain doesn't make sense - bhp is just a multiplication formula of torque & revs, so no torque increase = no bhp increase. Maybe it was taken at higher revs?

Indeed, the max was 7610 RPM but the original max power was at 7290.

Paul said that it was pinking so much that he did not want to rev it any higher before the remap.

Good gains. Had mine re-mapped by Paul at Austec and will be going back shortly for a tune up as I've recently replaced my entire exhaust system. Before de-cat and re-map my car made 363bhp with 281 lb/ft with peak power at 7,135 rpm and peak torque at 6,370 rpm. Afterwards it made 371bhp and 303 lb/ft with peak power at 6,790 rpm and peak torque at 6,120 rpm. Both the before and after runs were on their new rollers.

Post up your before and after dyno charts if you can.

See below the before and after dyno graphs with overlay on the after to compare easier. The results I have don't come close to some others I have seen but I am very happy with it. I am a bit puzzled why the figures are actually worse between 4 & 5K.

Has anyone had before-and-after figures done for just a remap, or just the decats? Mine certainly feels freer revving with just the decats, so I'm wondering whether a remap is worthwhile...

Not sure either, but no doubt someone technical (Joo where are you ?) will come along and offer some thoughts. What exhaust system have you got on the car ?. If you still have the factory back box on then it is robbing you of power. From personal experience, I think the SP6 engine is very sensitive to the flow of exhaust gasses. The de-cat on my car made a big improvement in torque and power throughout the rev range (see my dyno charts posted on the SP6 forum under Austec de-cat & re-map) and I suspect the custom exhaust system I've just had fitted may have done the same (I'll post up the results once I've been back to Austec's). So if you haven't changed your back box yet, I'd do so and if your budget runs to it I'd get the Tuscan S / Sagaris manifold fitted along with a bigger bore system throughout. Also, think about some decent de-cat pipes - I've recently bought a set form NTEL (PH name on here) and are having them fitted next week. The pipes are top quality and NTEL has reported noticebale dyno gains when he fitted them on his car.

I do have a standard exhaust. I thought the rear silencer would not make very much difference to the performance, just the sound, so I left it. I will look into the cost of new exhaust systems.

It will be interesting to see what difference it has made to your car when you get it back on the dyno.
