just got the car back from gt-one where it was in for a new steering rack, temp gauge and a few minor things
(the bill wasnt minor despite the major items being warranty jobs)

they replaced the front wishbone rear bushes and it has really helped the front end, it actually feels like there is damping holding the car down over bumps compared to b4, however there is now a low hissing/whining noise from the rack when it is stationary, it comes and goes if you lock to lock a few times and vanishes whenever any steering input is applied
am i right in guessing bubbles in the PAS fluid?
or is it something else that may have popped loose etc?

i didnt hear it when i 1st picked up the car and it started whilst i was just out for a test run

Could be bubbles,,,,may not be...correct fluid? etc..
Don't touch it,let them know as soon as possible, get it back. GT1 have a good reputation (so fluid will be correct) they will sort it.
Glad it is feeling a little more planted, you don't seem to have too much luck with your 968' do you M8!

i always 'feared' installing a new rack, i had a bad experience with my C where it never felt the same after,
the new rack on this does feel a bit different in initial weighting/response, but they did the geometry so it could be that im feeling, im glad they spotted those bushes tho

the rest of the car apparently checks out ok so hopefully its just this niggle to sort out

if it comes and goes when i lock to lock i would have thought its a bubble in the fluid, will give them a call tomorrow

BTW
hows the RS m8?

Steering system on these are self bleeding it wont be bubbles - more likely to be your pump on the way out, in order to replace the rack they have to drain the system and in order to refill it the pump must run dry for a few seconds to pull the fluid through - resulting in high wear rate - would suggest getting your ear down and having a listen to where this is from whilst getting someone else to do the steering lock to lock if it's the pump they are about 120 notes and an easy diy job
