Firstly, apologies is this is a repost, but I found these earlier and couldn't stop grinning! Following on from the Balboni thread, and the glorious sounds associated with the V12's................Enjoy

That brought back some memories. Amazing how in Cannonball 1 the cop car keeps up with a Countach.
Bit like in 'The Spy who Loved me' when Roger Moore is driving the Esprit S1 along the cliff tops and Jaws in the MK2 Cortina is right on his tail until he ends up through the roof of the cottage. Classic.
Totally off topic but about a year ago I was at a motoring dinner in Brum, and on the same table as some Lotus boys, and we got talking about that Bond film. There were some knowing grins as I was talking about the Esprit with the Jet Ranger bit with the fit bird flying it, then the guy sat next to me says I should talk to the guy opposite about it as he was Roger Becker - Lotus's chief test driver at the time, and the bloke who did the stunt driving in the film

Did he mention missing a gear in the scene where he overtakes a truck? I always thought it looked a bit close for comfort when he pulls in front, but a while ago I read he missed a gear and it really was a little closer than it should have been!
Maybe urban myth but I liked the idea anyway.

& how once the Cortina had porridge squirted on the windscreen (yes it was porridge & not cement) he then had to do the filming driving in reverse, (they then played it forwards) the Cortina driver was able to just look out the rear window but Roger still had to look like he was facing forwards for the film so had to do high speed reversing just using the tiny wing mirrors!
& he reversed it into a ditch!

- Roger Becker wasn't even down to do the driving in the film, it was originally one of United Artists stunt drivers but he kept mucking up the handbrake turns and the engine kept overheating in the heat. So the Director got onto Colin Chapman who sent Becker over. After that there were no problems apparently.

Wasn`t there talk of a remake of this film with a more modern spin?
Would be good to have that yet another intro with a Lamborghini with "two great looking chicks in it!"

Brock Yates who is Mr Cannonball never actually liked the Cannonball Films as he was never aloud to make the film how he wanted. The first film was loosely based around the 1979 cannonball, and the Ambulance, the Ferrari with the Priests and the pickup truck driving off road to reach the interstate where all true stories.....
As much as would love to see a modern re make, a dout if Broke Yates would ever allow another movie to be ruined by Hollywood let alone get involved as he has put the Cannonball to bed....

Was the black Countach in 1 overdubbed? If so, what with?
Cheers,
Animal
It may have been over-dubbed, but with a real one as the sound on the film is exactly like a real Countach.
