As most of us know the Sagaris is thought to be the best handling TVR out the box largely due to its wide track.

Is there anything that can be done to widen the track of the cerb a little? Wheel spacers for instance?

The reason I ask is that despite having well set up Gaz suspension I feel that it lack somewhat in the handling department. I know it will never be a GT3RS (the best handling car I have ever been in) but surely there is more that can be done than just different shocks??

N.B. My driving skills are being worked on....Done a ride drive course and about to do a cadence course.

Widening the track would mean Mr Tyre meeting Mr Wheel Arch, unless you modified the bodywork

Are the tolerances really that close that you cant widen the track by say 20mm? Or will this make naff all difference to the handling?

It would depend on the tolerances on the individual car, they are all slightly different.

I would suggest talking to someone like Andy at APM Automotive. He preps a Cerbera for racing and will no doubt have some ideas which will transfer across to the road car

Mine (formely Jules's and now Loz's) handled just fine, but it had been properly geo'd. I reckon that's more important than widening the track.

Remember also, relative ride heights front to rear are equally important to balance the unersteer/oversteer characteristics.

And corner weighting. It all adds up.

I think you need to be more specific than that about what is wrong with it. There is no ideal setup that suits every driver, and 'well set up' doesn't mean that the suspension is right for you. Whatever else you might change, spacing the wheels out is almost certainly not the right answer.

I found some quite an interesting, and straightforward definitions of basic suspension tuning and set-up. I've taken them from their websites and put it on one of mine, HERE

May make make interesting reading for some.

I know from talking to Joolz that Richard Thorpe does, but that's a long way from you and me m8. biggrin

There must be someone around Brands that does.

I'm not sure if there's a reason why you couldn't use the rather more basic:

Hmm a solid state strain gauge costs what £5?
After I get me wheel alignment tool finnally sorted, me thinks its corner weighting next smile. Sooo many fun projects, so much work in the way. frown

Anyway, how come all you racing guys don't have one. I thought you lot would be adjusting tracking, and corner weighting before each race, not at the start of the season then forgetting about it.
