I have decided to buy grandstand seats from Team Langoustine.
I spoke to Andy and he said he has all stands available from Maison Blanche to Sommer.
He advised me to go for Sommer, opposite the pit exit and the big screen.
So before I take the plunge, I would like your opinions on the best.
This is my first year, so have no experience of them.

I always take a grandstand seat. There are over 250K people all trying to get a decent view. I like my place at the start/finish straight guaranteed. It's only once a year, so why compromise for the extra few quid.
I splash out and use the ACO stand. It has showers, toilets, food and 2 bars inside the stand. Well worth the extra.
But Sommer is probably the best for views. Good for the main straight as well as the Dunlop chicane and big screen.

However, it is a must to have a grandstand seat for the start
and end of the race as the build up to the start of the race
is all part of the atmosphere, I have been stood on the terraces
before now and by the time the race starts your back hurts and
you cant see a great deal
Do yourself a big fat favour and buy any grandstand seat as soon as possible
get a beer and sit in reasonable comfort and enjoy 55 cars screaming past
Grandstand seat every time for me, as above, if its pissing down for the start,or even boiling hot you dont want to be standing out in the open, your legs will kill you,all your gear is on the floor,brollies in the way if its raining,if you go for a beer or a piss you loose your place.
In the stand you can relax, sit with a beer, its great to sit up there for the night racing, the view is much better etc etc .For the money its well worth it.

without doubt treat yourself to a seat. Outfield is preferable, especially if it is hot, as you'll be in the shade. Join the ACO as well as you can enjoy their other viewing positions around the track and take a few chums in with you as well for a few euros.
Make sure you experience the full build up to the race, you'll have a good view of the other fans, particularly the Dutch with their orange smoke and ballons.

Been going since 1996, always had a grandstand seat, always at Maison Blanche. Why there? Well, it's opposite the Ford Chicanes and its entrance form the prior straight, opposite the pit entrance road too, so there's always action. The grandstand is angled to the circuit so you get a great view all the way up the pit straight and the sound is therefore excellent. Take binoculars, tune in to Radio Le Mans, get the beers from the nearby bar, and you're all set. Also, I park and kip in Parking Blanc which is very close too. If you do not get a ticket for here, come along late at night/early morning before dawn when the grandstand marshalls are not there, and then infiltrate and pick a spot. Lots of others do this so it must be a good place to be! You will not be disappointed.
I don't stay at Maison Blanche grandstand all the time. There's good access all the way down to the Porsche Curves, and The Village is maybe 10 minutes away. I also pay a visit or two to Tetre Touge which is maybe 20 minutes away but of course I stop at the Dunlop Chicane etc on the way as well.
Many PHers do not see the value of a grandstand seat, prefering the value of the all over access of the General Entrance ticket. I understand their views. However, having a seat, out of the rain or the heat of the sun, away from the crowds for much of the time too, cannot be beat in my view.
I've been in the Lagache Grandstand for the past two Le Classic Le Mans and that's good too, particularly for that event where there's far more cars, and pit action is going on all the time.
Overall, my view is that getting a grandstand seat is well worth the extra money.

I'm in the ACO stand (Stand 34) this year. Have been for the previous two years running.
Great stand, on the start/finish straight, loo's as mentioned etc.. I'm sure I'm right in saying that it's slightly cheaper than the others and sells out quickly due to this. Well they all sell out quickly.
For £50 or there about, once a year, I will have a grandstand every time.
Although it would be nice to see into the pits from the opposite side of the track. Maybe next year. You can go to the edge and lean over but it's not the same as you can still only seem them if they're outside their garages.

Think your getting a little confused T18 and T17 are the "ACO" stands these are only available to ACO members. T34 which is the one over the pits is just a regular grandstand. Although the fact that you can get into the rear area behined the pits does mean you can see what the teams are up to.

ACO is the best stand, have been going for four years now with 2008 being my fifth and i must say it is great, cold beer, champagne ,croissants and sannies.
good seats nice shaded, but last year we had to be dragged through by the security because it was soo crowded outside.
We usually take a note of the best seats for the race and book a year in advance, just don't sit too close to the speakers LOL!

Oh and say hi if you do see us, we are wearing T shirts this year, i will tell you what they will have on them once we decide.

Tertre Rouge corner is a good view point, but for half an hour. Not much going on there unless it's wet. Then every 10th car will do a little piroette for you.
I'd try and get in the complex if you can. There is a new stand next to Dunlop (indianapolis I think) might be worth a try. Or try for Sommer (one of my favs). You can see the Dunlop chicane from there and the big screen.

If you join the ACO you can go into their hospitality area in the village as well, big screen, great food and booze,few tasty bits of totty to observe also...!
Hmm thankyou GT3. Tasty bits of totty!! I maybe called Hairy Mary, but it's not a beard 
and I don't wear doc martin boots.
