Well, Garston to be specific, heading north towards the junction with the A405, just by the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Marked Volvo sat off the road on the outside of a bend, pointing a tripod mounted thingy back down towards the A41 "Dome" roundabout.

Car IS visible from distance, but only slight concern would be that because it's off the road on the outside of a bend, by the time you've clocked it, they've literally clocked you.

Interestingly, there were, until a few weeks back, a set of those traffic monitoring strips about 100 yards up the road, so I'm guessing they're related.

Anyone know what reaction I'll get if I stroll up there and ask them if they're speed trap or ANPR? Can I expect a friendly chat or a flea in my ear?

I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem.

I read in yesterday's Watford Observer that they were doing ANPR checks on the Dome roundabout last week. Be interesting to know if they were doing it again because they uncovered so many untaxed vehicles the first time...

Went back up there, but they'd gone....

First thought was "ANPR", as I know there was a big operation a few weeks back centred on Watford ring road, but what with the traffic monitoring that was 100 yards up the road a few weeks back, I'm swayed into thinking it was a speed trap. Also couldn't see any other police up the road to pull people.

They do love to sit on the Dome rdbt and catch you as you come over the brow of the hill down the A41 from the M25. Not a hope in hell of seeing them at the bottom with a laser - I do love letting the idiots race by knowing what could be waiting.

Lets face it, that dual carriageway is PRIME speeding territory with the 40 limit set very early before the road becomes single carriageway.
