Can anyone confirm the rear tyre size on a Chim - I think it's 225/50/16 but being at work I can't look at my car to check.

I'd say possibly yes.

However it could also be 245/45/16 as this is another common size.

Or you never know......it maybe non of the above as I've read and seen a few with some very different sizes / profiles.

Sorry, guess I'm not much help. getmecoat

Handbook states 225/50/16" for the rear. There are variations on this size, it is at least a guide.

225/55/16 originally. All of the sizes mentioned so far were fitted onto the same 7.5" wide rim. What size would you like to fit?

If yours are 235x50x16's then you may be interested in a pair of Toyo T1r's in this size. only 30 miles use !!! I had them changed this week as they fouled the wheel arch under compression. I am not sure if I am allowed to say "£50 each, near Thame oxon - buyer collects" on this forum. But there you go!

Thanks guys - 225/50 sounds about right though by the sounds of it TVR never made their minds up.
Would there be any difference if I fitted 245/45? Just the thought of a wider tyre and more tread on the road (thus more grip) kind of appeals.

More grip in the dry but more prone to aqua planing. There are pros and cons to any choice. Choose what suits you and drive accordingly.

245/45 were standard on 500s from 96 on.

Didn't the 500s had the Griffith wheels though? Is there any difference in size of this rim to the std Chimaera ones?

Don't think so. The Griffs are on 7.5" wide rear rims. How wide are your rims?

Most did, but I've had 5 500s, all with the Chimaera (rather than Estoril) wheels, all 245/45.

I'm not going to be to much of an anorak and name the corner but I'd hazard a guess at Monaco. wink
