Following a very constructive phone call with the IWM, I'm pleased to announce the IWM Duxford Classic Car Show/s as an excellent new addition to the PH Roadshow calendar.

http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/server/show/nav.00d00g00...

Many of you will have been to Duxford before so you'll know the sheer size of the place and the amount of things to see and do.

There are two events:

  • Spring Car Show on Sunday 4 May 2008
  • Duxford Classic Car Show on Sunday 10 August 2008
I suspect the latter will be bigger and it wil also have a weighting towards true (ie old) classics. Hence there'd be more/different carstuff for us to see, and our display would also stand out more as being modern. However if there's a strong preference for the May event, we'll do that instead.

The organisers need to know numbers so if you'd like to attend, please let me know either here or by PM. Car-wise, usual Roadshow rules apply but if you don't have a suitable car you can of course come along as public and stroll over to see us.

Dave Muttock's got a stand for the Sporting Bears again for 4th May (and August is pencilled in too) they went last August - so you'll not be alone at least

Loads to see, especially if you've not been before

All these shows seem to be on top of each other. . . .
Can't make May as it's Stoneleigh that day, but could make August, by the way I believe that's the same day as the new Peterborough show.

Yes, 'fraid that's the way it happens. August is always busy.

There will be clashes, you just have to decide which looks more interesting. I can't think of anything much bigger than Duxford!

The closing date for entries for the first show is April 18th. I'm rather surprised the mailshot to 100+ PHers only got one reply.

John's right, Duxford is great! By coincidence, I was there last Saturday with my parents. It was my Dad's 78th birthday and as he did his conscription in the RAF, we thought he would appreciate it.
The new hanger has made a huge difference to the whole site. Well worth a visit. We were there from 10:30-4pm and still didn't see it all!

Graham is also right, Stoneleigh is the biggest event of the year on the Ultima calender. If I still had mine, it would be a tough call as to which one to go to!

The main purpose of the mailing list is an invitation for people who don't visit/frequent this forum. Similarly not everyone who reads the forum is on the mailing list, so there's an overlap. However if someone wants to attend a Show, they need to let whoever's organising the PHEA stand (me or Ian) know. Even if the venue doesn't need names, registration numbers etc, they will need to know how much space to mark out for us.

So as the season moves on and each Show reaches its entry cut-off date (or fills up, whichever is the sooner), myself and Ian build up a list of names for each one so we know who's coming to what.

Yup I'll be doing this one, on either date John. Although a couple of friends have begun to talk of a road trip this summer, maybe in June, but I'll try and get some dates to 100% confirm my attendance to all this year's shows smile
