e39 525 power loss

my grand old lady seems to be running out of grunt when hitting 3 & 1/2 k engine still sweet (147k) any thoughts.

Try the camshaft sensors, i replaced both of the units on my e39 528 as it was losing power. There at the front near the VANOS v/v's.
