Hi - Find out if the heater kit is the heater or A/C. If not the A/C then if it is a GTR throw the heater in the bin and allow for the A/C kit. YOU DO NEED A/C!

He says the SBC is a 5.0l unit. Most, if not all Ultima's with the SBC start at 5.7l That is the 350 cubic inch unit. No doubt the experts will be along soon to explain which of the many SBC units equate to 5.0l

You'll really need to do the pricing yourself as the final spec is a very personal thing. Wheels, seats, trim, fuel system, oil system, wing etc are all down to the individual. Trawl through the Ultima price list and pick out what you have to have, what you would like to have and what is nice to have.

Good luck

Okay, will await engine details, I have a feeling that someone will say the one included is not entirely adequate.

Thanks for the comments though.

Deffo what Paul said, you need to do the sums (after all you are a bean countersmile)
Biggest outlay will be the body, you could pick up some parts along the way from other builders who have gone a different direction and want rid, things like brakes/gearbox's sometime come up, wheels are a personal taste, but the factory ones are OK. As it comes with a G50 adaptor etc then you are committed to a G50(no bad thing),unless you want extra outlay.
As for the engine, a lot of people on here say go for a revvy engine that doesn't have too much torque, and I think (stand to be corrected though) a 302ci could be such an engine, if the right parts are fitted.
Good luck with your decision I'm sure you'll come to the right one wink

My advice would be to discount the engine from the purchase as it will be of little use to you.

To register the Ultima as a new car all the parts have to be new with the exception of one major assembly which must be reconditioned to an 'as new' standard. This is normally the engine. For registration you will need to present either a certificate of newness from an engine builder or demonstrate by way of all receipts showing all the new parts fitted to the engine. I am guessing those receipts don't exist for this engine so if you wanted to rebuild it yourself then it is only worth the value of a bare block. If it does not have 4 bolt main bearing caps then it is probably not worth more than the pallet it is standing on.

Budget for a new engine.

Agreed, the engine is highly unlikely to be of any significant value and it makes no financial sense to tune in 5 litre form.

had feeling it'd be useless. Just looking at the LS7s, what has really surprised me is the economy figures quoted for the Corvette 28mpg, amazing.

Although it says Alloy double skin kit, the cockpit floor doesn't look like it's been done?

Happy to discount the engine out of the price of the kit although I do have all the receipts for the parts in the motor (comes to around US$1200).

The basic idea was to build the kit with an older block thus bypassing the SVA emission issues then drop a LS2/AMS in at a later date.

Have factory receipts for all other parts.

Cheers,

Robin.

No worries mate, helps the publicity side....

Feel free to contact me directly or come and take a look at the kit itself, it's in Aldridge, West Midlands.

If there are enough receipts for the engine to demonstrate that it is now virtually new then it should not be an issue.
