Afternoon guys,

Was trundling down the A12 last night in the p!ssing rain with the traffic pretty slow.
Im on the inside lane and we're travelling a bit faster than the outside and mr White Jaguar decides to pull straight across from the outside lane infront of me..

Fortunately the lanes are quite wide and i have to pull right across the lane whilst hooting and to be fair im a bit rude to the driver..

Yeah i know we hear it all the time but was interesting the drivers response (smug old git) was "Put your Full beam on and i might see you"
My TL has twin headlights which are pretty damn bright even dipped and i dont like to put the full beam on when its just raining as.. well.. .it just p!sses car drivers off.. (me being a car driver too i know what thats like)

Fortunately or not depending how you look at it i was pretty soggy and my boots were filling with water so wanted to get home otherwise i think the Jaguar would be minus a door mirror!!

Rant Over.. biggrin

Some drivers just won’t learn till they have killed someone, and even then some won’t even care.

I agree with you guys.. What gets me is that he really didn't give a t*ss.. If he'd just said "Sorry Mate" i would of calmed to a simmer and been on my way but he was implying it was my fault.

I'm not one to suggest we go around clumping drivers but you can understand why people lose their rags when drivers blatantly in the wrong choose to be ars*holes..

I had the same yesterday.

Car starts coming accross, indicator comes on after manouver, I'm on the horn gently turning then braking because I don't want to lock up

My arse has never clenched so tight. Bloke actually said "sorry didn't see you".

I gave the hard stare and carried on... Bloke looked pretty suprised and wasn't being aggressive.

This "sorry I didn't see you" is st though. "sorry, I didn't look and have no awareness of what's around me" is more like it!!

Under-taking will often be dodgy, in fairness.

You see, I understand people make mistakes, and if smeone did that to me and then put his hands up and was very very pologetic, I'd be p!ssed off but that;s about it. If he'd started on me I think I'd probably follow im home!

true but in my instance i was just just keeping with the speed of the traffic leaving a reasonable distance between me and the car infront. Not undertaking..
He just saw the inside lane moving faster than him and decided to 'go for it' without looking...

Anyway its done now.. but believe me i'll remember that white jag.

Were you wearing any hi-viz clothing?

Bikes are hard to see at the best of times...if the driver put his hand up, accept the apology.

What good is Hi-viz if the driver has not looked, or if the bike is in his blind spot?

Lane-shear situations are always dodgy, and I've had people pulling out on me when I've been in the car. In city traffic like this, people just move out on you and that's that. They do it to other cars and even bloody lorries and buses, so why aren't they going to do it to bikes?

I agree with you on accepting the apology; I've given up on tooting because all it gets you is the finger at best or brake tested at worst.

People who apologise are rare as hobby horse poo; at least it shows they're trying to get their driving right, which has got to be a big part of the battle!

At least the OP didn't crash, this time.

When a driver doesn't see something that's alomst 6ft tall, 3ft wide and running with twin 55watt halogen bulbs then I doubt a bit of day-glow will make much difference!

As i said in my original post, if the guy had apologised then, hey i would still be umpy but we all make mistakes and i'd just be on my way...

The bike is bright yellow, sounds like thunder, and has two light-houses shining off the front of it, not to mention my lid is not exactly subtle and i was just in the middle of the 'slow' lane. I was no different from a narrow car...

End of the day, this isn't rocket science.. The bloke moved across without looking and then wouldn't accept he'd done anything wrong. I don't wanna harp on about it.. just making the observation that some drivers really don't care about their actions or the consequences..
