Baffles

Hi guys, I've got the cherry bombs on my 400. Does anyone know if I can get any sort of baffles to quiet them down a bit for really long journeys? Preferably something that I can easily put on and off etc. Thanks, Aub.

Supertrapp or similar will fix to the tailpipes. They are used to keep the noise down on track days if its too noisy. Do a search on here for them and where to get them.

Take a look in the Demon Tweek catalog - they have supertrap and decibel inserts.. Jetex also do these..

supertrap are 50 ~ 60 quid each
and a db insert 5 (2 inch) 12 (2.5inch) 18 (3inch) quid each..

or a pair of ear plugs 60p - just get used to it ya girlie

Fits inside a 2” tailpipe and secured by drilling a 6mm hole and inserting the supplied bolt. Size 205mm x 48mm. If you’re too noisy on the track this device will reduce your db level but beware of what it can also do to your engine performance. Can be cut down lengthwise.

The jetex decibel tubes get my vote. Takes the real bark out of the exhausts, without significantly increasing the back pressure. (Unlike Supertraps).

Mean't to add that I made one myself and test it and it reduced the db by over 10 db.. just wanted to take the edge of my very noisy wedge (125.2 db)

Sorry, don't want to hijack the thread. But as my 400 is all original, and i want to do the Cherry Bomb treatment.........Has anyone got before and after DB readings?????

I have an all original 4oo HC. It was tested a couple of weekends ago at the mid essex tvrcc meet as it was noted my Chim was far too quiet, it was 85db at 4500 rpm. I do not know the db readings with cherrybombs fitted but at least this gives you a guide on the 'before' reading.

I have a fully decatted cherry bombed 450 and i got 107db at 4krpm at Oulton park, i have a pair of ACT trackday silencers which i fit when i need some additional silencing, i use them most on early leaves and late returns to stop upsetting my heighbours
