have ibiza fr tdi, needs 2 front tyres. Anyone know of some good rubber ??? had eagle f1's on last car and they where good in both wet and dry. whats your thoughts....
How can you wear them out in 10k? You cannot wheel spin due to the traction control - so have you jus been cornering very hard and worn the edges down or have you been running them under pressure and damaged them?cuprabob said:
I commend your driving style because I can't even get 40K out of a set of backs and the majority of my miles are motorway.
With my current car, which is 4WD I've managed 18K out of the fronts and the backs will probably do 40K
Lots of BMW 118d/120d drivers are getting near on 80k out of their Michellin tyresWith my current car, which is 4WD I've managed 18K out of the fronts and the backs will probably do 40K

Eh?I got 11k on the MCS Runflats, 10k on the Yokos that replaced them, 9k on the Leon FR first set, the replacement GSD3's are looking tired after another 6k...
Torque and FI delivery seems to chew them up. Mind, I don't do so many motorway miles...

This is a 286bhp (which was driven hard as well as less so) 550Nm a heavy touring model used to carry heavy loads. If you tyres are lasting 10k and your using the excuse that "Oh its a high torque car so you have to expect that" then its a load of tosh.
FYI 0- my Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo 220bhp & 230lbf @ 2800rpm has the same torque output as the VAG 1.9 PD TDI 130bhp - over a larger rev range too however my tyres have now lasted near on 40k and still have a good 4.5mm all round.
May I put it to you that there may be too many traffic light GP's & spinning the wheels out of junctions (i.e. poor planning ahead when driving to need to do that) and cornering FAR too quickly to wear the outside edge off.
OR your tracking is out, of the geometry is out.

I must say my car still spins up it's wheels in 2nd at santa pod even on good rubber. You must have a very woosy right foot.
Dont you have traction control - or be able to control traction with your right foot?My cas has a LSD and booting it in 2nd on a dry surface with 220bhp & 230lbf will not evoke wheel spin.
Maybe I read your statement wrongly - your clearly doing a full throttle gear change at the POD noone does this on the Queens public highway
