I've just bought myself a CBR 600 RR (pronounced 'aaaaaagggh aaaaaaaaaggggh') so, the next time you see an oily black smear at the side of the road- thatll be me- so, please do stop and make sympathetic noises till the ambulance arrives.

Now, I just need a licence...

ETA if someone could point me in the direction of a place that sells all the kit cheaper than anyone else, thatd be aces. Id like alpinestars stuff, so a cheasp source of them would be great.

Likewise, who do you folks use for insurance? Ive done a quote on confused, but im wondering if theres a newbie specialist who'll be cheaper.

Thanks in advance.

What people seem to forget about 150mph motorbikes is the throttle works both ways, just because you drive a Veyron does not mean you have to drive round at 200mph all the time......wink

Afraid not, just traded my foreign bike license for a UK one so have no bike history here. I got quoted £1100 by Carole Nash to insure an R1200GS. Nuts!

Good to see you've taken the plunge matey smileYou only bought that one because it sounded sounded the most piratey didn't you?

Gather you're going the DAS route sooner rather than later?

As for insurance, I've just insured with carole nash who came up a smidgen cheaper than bennetts. They were the cheapest two for me (480 quid on a ducati 749S)

Your best bet RE getting your gear sorted, is find a mate who's freindly with a shop locally. I tend to get good deals on my gear just because I'm fairly regularly buying stuff from them, couple of hundred quid off leathers, 40 quid off gloves etc soon goes a long way when it's added up

You might also want to search around for some 2007 stock, sure there'll be a few places around that have some remaining they'll want to shift.

Enjoy matey!
