Evening All

I'm about to make an offer on a standard S1. It's a nice honest car but I need to be sensible about pricing it up. There are a few things I'd want (not need) to do if I bought it:

1. replace the original red konis with S2 bilsteins
2. fit 2 new rear tyres
3. check how much a replacement windscreen costs (the current one is delaminating in the bottom corners, not terrible and doesn't need doing now, but I want to know what the worst case scenario is)
4. get a B service (a C if I'm being cautious)

How much should each of these cost?

Thanks

Tom.

Bilsteins - say £600 fit yourself.
New rears - how old are the fronts, they never wear out, just get hard and useless. I'd allow about £250 for a full set of Toyo T1-Rs (OK) OR £500ish for a set of Yoko Advan LTS (excellent, best for S1).
New Windscreen - dunno, check out eliseparts.co.uk
I'd get the C service and cambelt done if in doubt. Say £500 from a specialist.

Ding to what Tim says. I wouldn't worry about the screen to be honest, unless it's gonna be an MOT failure just stick with what you've got. You can get secondhand screens for about £150, a new one is about £800 if I remember correctly? If you can't fit the suspension yourself I'd say a local grease monkey would do it for about £45 quid per corner, but you'll need a full geo done at a specialist afterwards, so factor that cost into it. The suspension itself should be about £550. Without telling us what tyres are on the front it's impossible to state a replacement cost. DO NOT mix tyres however, what's on the front must be on the back, or you'll be going through a hedge backwards quite soon. Good luck with the purchase...

Thanks gents.

It's on p6000s all the way round at the minute. I'll definitely be getting the Neovas but might put them on the back only to start. I guess that way I'll understeer in to a hedge so at least I'll see it coming.

P6000 just aren't sticky enough for the Elise. For the sake of less than £200 chuck em away (or put them in your local free-ads).
Replace the tyres first, get the service done and then do either the suspension or Windscreen depending on how bad the windscreen is.
Incidently Eliseparts are about to introduce a new damper for the Elise: Nitron Racing Reds. Similiar price to the Bilsteins, I think they are designed to work with slightly firmer springs (I'd check that out though).

check out Pro-tech dampers as well. I would buy these over the nitron racing reds after speaker to Nitron themselves, they dont sound like the best damper.they are made in china and branded up with Nitron. I have the pro-tech dampers and at under £600, I would not go for anything else. They are fully adjustable aswell.

One thing to bear in mind is that most insurance companies will replace a badly stonechipped windscreen for a nominal fee (£50-£100) so make sure its on your shopping list when you get your insurance... I'd imagine the screen might not cost you too much..... assuming it gets a nasty stone chip on a run sometime!

Best you wait a month or two tho!
