Out of curiosity, what is the penalty if you are getting caught with a laser blocker installed in the car?

Nothing at all as far as im aware. Since when was it illegal to emit infra-red from your vehicle? It isnt.
There may be some possible attempt by GWENT police to act hard, but they cant really do a lot to you, hence they dropped the charges against the guy who was baiting em with his laser jammer.
One of the BIB's on here will be able to give you more info than moi tho

To back deltaf up since laser LIGHT is light then it is impossible to ban it.
But I am sure they are working on it.

IIRC, I thought some guy got done, not for the actual action of using a laser jammer, but because the result was that he was stopping the police perform their duties - so he was done for perverting the course of justice or something similar?

How can some one get done for perverting the course of justice? With speeding, the only evidence is that of the speed cameras. With out that evidence, there is no crime. It is a different situation with crimes against people as there is always other evidence to back up that a crime WAS commited. Perverting the course of justice in those cases is normaly to cover up who commited a crime not to cover up that a crime was commited.

It's a bit like charging a burglar with perverting the course of justice for wearing a balaclava while robbing a house.

The difference is that if your house was burgled, there would be the evidence of property having been taken and therefore the burglary occured.

Do they still charge burglars? I thought they sent them on holiday - IF they catch them.

Well after all they have to keep the population down in jail to make room for speeding offenders.
