How many people have put an order down, expressed interest or even put a deposit down on the F149. Saw an old post where a couple had but with more info available i'm thinking of putting a deposit down. Autocar said it should be unveiled in October. If it is what everyone predicts (a 2+2, hard top/soft top and only £100k) then surely they are going to be incredibly popular?

You cant put a deposit down. You can only put a letter of intent in, which they have been taking for some considerable time. I have had a LOI on one for some time now.

Rumour has it that it wont be £100k but instead nearer to 430 scud money!!

TBH I think it would be very surprising if Ferrari did a 2+2 for ~100k.

That was my inital thought as well. I'm also suprised that they are doing a hard top/soft top for a 2+2 first, rather than 2 seaters. If they did sell for £100k then the speculators are going to be making a lot of money.

My dealer in South Australia has taken my deposit and expects 09 delivery. I'm no.6 on his list. He said about F430 money but admits he can't yet be sure.

Ordered - LOI - many moons ago and first on dealers list (also for F430 replacement smile). No deposit paid or required yet. I heard the £100k rumour too but also that it will end up around the £130k mark. An 'ordinary' spec 430 is already over £150k and rumour is that when the 430 replacement comes it will move further up the price range so I think £130k for sensible spec. 149 will be about right.

If you're comfortable that's fine. BUT the official position is still that Dealers should only be taking letters of intent at the mo and until Ferrari give them the go ahead to submit orders to the factory no deposits should be taken. This means that your £5k is sitting in your dealers deposit account not on an official order bank somewhere. Also - belt and braces - if you ordered a while ago did you order 'Dino' or F149 as Ferrari are not allowing 'Dino' orders to be transfered across to the f149 file - or rather they are but they'll be re-dated from the date they are transfered thereby loosing out on their place in the queue.

Why are they doing this? Is there going to be a Dino at some point then? I had a LOI in for a baby Ferrari/California (Im not that bothered if im not allowed one though).

Hi mate. Your guess is as good as mine! But that is how they're doing it. Until they decide on plan b,c,d,e,f or whatever and change the rules again.

You make it all sound very scientific - but since when has having the first LOI even meant that you get the first car?
With most dealers this LOI thing is a waste of time because they will just allocate the build slots to their "good" customers

Mike you have an actual deposit down for an 8C Spyder? LOI? Has DD confirmed your place in the q and at what price point? If the answer to any of the above is "No" I have some bad financial news coming your way! I unfortunately say that from experience with the coupe (esp the price point bit!) frown

Pugsey ta for the info on the Dino/F149 transfer. I had my LOI in on the Dino thingy yrs ago, and truth be told forgot all about it till this 149 thing came up and suddenly thought "Oooo, I got my LOI jobby on one of those then", but that explains why I havent heard from my local mob. Might have to go and say hello to them again if I thought they might have any more firm info on this than already exists on ph. Unfortunately I suspect not.

True - but in turn their 'good' customers will always have the first LOIs in anyway - usually because their dealer automatically puts them down for the first of any new model. Any new customer would be daft to think it worked any other way IMO and anyone walking in through the dealers door 'cold' and placing a LOI will be told that they're the tenth/twentieth whatever - depending on how many existing customers the dealer is already allowing for - I know that's certainly how my Aston, Porsche and Ferrari dealers work. You've got to start somewhere - those 'good' customers did!

Concur - I've been trying for months to give Alfa money for a confirmed 8C, either variant, with no success (unsurprisingly!)

I have wondered what the dealer would say if i asked to see the proof of my place in said list. Like you say Pugsey im sure they give priority to there good customers but does having a LOI in actually mean anything? Can they bump you down the list just because you have not bought from them?
