Elise boot stay question - Help Please

During an enthusiastic run out yesterday I decided to go topless, but when I folded the roof into the boot I must have caught the boot stay and its come clean off, leaving me holding the black metal pole. Question is where does it attach to - I've had a look and can't work it out.

Black pole is two straight sections with a 90 degree curve in the middle.

I didnt pay attention when it was attached, and now its unattached I've no idea where it should connect to.

Help please anyone? Its a 2002 S2.
