Just spent a rather enjoyable weekend with a mate and his Impreza P1.
it was bone stock, but well cared for so represented the *true* P1 experiance.
first off, jesus can't this thing move! In first and second seem like a blur, and 3rd builds on the already impressive pace.
its pointy, stops well and has that beautiful flat 4 warble.
just a shame that the interior is so low rent, but i could live with it for its driving experiance.

Try a Type-R or RA. Go on, you know you want to...

A type RA redefined my perceptions of aceleration and lateral grip. A proper roller coaster experience. I still couldn't put up with one though. I'd get bored of everyone wanting to race the whole time.

hehe I actually bought an MX5 to play with instead of an RA - can push the limits, have fun, take the pi$$ etc at speeds which pose much less risk to my licence. Plus it cost me about 1/5th of what a decent RA was going to and uses about half as much fuel, so I'm happier to thrash it everywhere.

A (lightly tweaked I think) STi-RA V-ltd remains the single most impressive car I've ever driven though.

I drive a version 5 STi-RA ltd to work every day (when I can't have the Griff). While it is certainly one of the best cars I've ever driven for acceleration, grip etc, it does get boring unless there's the prospect of track time every couple of months.

I still miss my P1 sometimes, and I have the 22b to play with. The P1 is SUCH a performance bargain at today's prices it's stupid. silly

might sound strange but i like the fact that the interior in the p1 isnt great like the glove compartment doesnt really sit flush stuff like that because you can tell where the money and production is and that under the bonnet what a machine

As Jeremy Clarkson said,

Great memories, I still miss mine. I know what a previous poster means by it hurt when you gave it a full bore start :-) What it lacked in mechanical sympathy it more than made up for in adrenaline buzz!

Was going to buy one, but then decided on an 05 STI as a more practical everyday car. Came so close to buying one then the budget happened. Give another £455 to the government, not on your nelly! Hence new plan of Diesel Audi & P1! Even if it blows up at least I'm not giving more money to Robin Brown and his merry men!

I will get another classic again one day. I'd love a P1, but I think I fancy an old stripped out RA with no spoiler and anti-lag more!
