Karting at Le Mans

I know there is a Karting track at Le Mans and its supposed to be good. I'd imagine it is but, is it open for Le Mans week and is it hideously expensive/busy? I quite fancy having a go during the week as we get there Tuesday. Any advice? Also I meant to go to the museum last year but kind of didn't get a chance, worth a visit also?

A few of us went last year on the tuesday it was a pretty good track (there are 2) and cheap (compared to say brands hatch).

Went again on the thursday afternoon - prices had increased by 10 euros although was on a 2nd larger track which was even better. Had to wait for some guys to finish then 7 of us had a go.

Waiting to go its absolutely pissed it down and flooded the track, - and then they let us go for 15 mins on slicks
(there are no marshalls if you spin you get out the kart drag it from the gravel and away you go)

had so much fun and was soaked anyway so as soon we were finished went and paid for another go!.

I did see a price table and it steadily increases towards th eweekend and probably gets busier to.

I'd go as soon as possible in the week, its over by Karting Nord, circuit Alan Prost.

Quick tip is if your driving you may get stopped because its near marshall camping sites. just shout Alan Prosting Karting and they'll let you through no probs

Hi All,

It's the Alan Prost circuit, I will be doing the Le Mans 24 hour race there on the weekend of the 5th / 6th July this year. It's a great track and the 24 hour race is a right laugh.

last time i was there in 2006, they closed the track off to karts on saturday night and had 3 brand spanking new Audi RS4's hooning around the track giving passenger rides - was very impressive to watch - one of the drivers was a lot better than the other two too, getting a lot of sideways action going on!



the karting was good too - twin-engined prokarts if i recall correctly

Remember this is France where H&S is only paid the scantest of lip service most the time and so driving standards don't appear to be checked as well as you would expect in the UK. Add to that the 'zorsts didn't have guards on them a couple of years ago and i still have a small scar to prove it!!!

I saw that too, the driver was pretty awesome! Have been on the karts during the race that same year, it was pretty expensive and had to wait a while, but was worthwhile

Been to the museum a couple of times now. It's well worth a visit, yes! We ended up going at about 1pm on the sunday last year (i.e. during the race, to escape the rain!) It's not massive, but it has some interesting cars in it.
